Rule Based Automation

  • Streamlined Campaign Management: Automates actions based on predefined conditions, reducing repetitive tasks and standardizing optimizations.
  • Current & Future Coverage: Automates 25-30% of tasks currently, with plans to expand to 70-80% for greater efficiency and scalability.
  • Key Benefits: Operates 24/7, minimizes manual effort, eliminates biases, and ensures consistent, data-driven performance.
  • Outcome: Enhances efficiency, scalability, and user control, freeing up resources for strategic initiatives.

Getting Started with Rules-Based Automation

Creating a New Rule

Step 1: Define the Rule

  1. Click on the "Add Rule" button.

    Add Rule button in Module
  2. Select the rule type.

    Rule Type Options
  3. Select the campaign and ad group to which you would like the rule to be applied.
  4. Name your rule for easy identification.

    Text Box for Rule Name
  5. Specify the frequency at which the rule should run (e.g., Daily, Every 2 days, Every 7 days, etc.).

  6. Select date check range.
  • The date check range refers to the period for which the metric data is evaluated when users define conditions. For example, if a user sets a condition where CPT > $5 with a date check range of 7 days, the system will calculate the average CPT over the past 7 days to assess compliance with the condition.

7. Select the start date.

  • The start date of a rule marks the commencement of its activation. For instance, if we set up a rule today to start running after 3 days that is on an upcoming Monday, and with a frequency of 7 days thereafter, the rule will execute every Monday at 7-day intervals.

Step 2: Set Conditions

  1. Choose the conditions that will trigger the rule. These could be based on metrics such as clicks, impressions, conversions, etc.
    • Example: "If taps are greater than 1000" or "If conversions drop below 50." Users can can set up to only up to 3 conditions.

  2. Combine multiple conditions using logical operators (AND/OR).

Step 3: Define Actions

  1. Select the actions that should be taken when the conditions are met.
    • Examples include pausing a campaign, increasing bid amounts, or increasing the campaign budget.

Specify the parameters for each action.

    • Example: "Increase bid by 10%"
    • Please note that the system automatically detects the required numeric type, so users do not need to specify it. For instance, if the metric is TTR, simply enter the parameter without indicating the %.

  1. Set the limit.

The limit in rule-based automation is defined as the maximum or minimum threshold value that the system can attain when adjusting metric values, either increasing or decreasing. For instance, if the system is instructed to reduce the bid with a cap set at $2, it will continue lowering the bid until it reaches $2, refraining from surpassing this limit. In cases where the current bid already exceeds or falls below the cap value, the system will abstain from executing any actions

Step 5: Review and activate

  1. Review the rule details to ensure accuracy.
  2. Click "Save" to enable the rule.
  3. The rule will now run according to the specified conditions and actions.

Step 6: Associate with other campaign and ad groups

  • After saving a rule, users will be redirected to the RBA home page, where they can associate the saved rules with other campaigns, and ad groups by clicking on 'Associate.'

Monitoring the Rule and Its Actions

  1. Users can view essential details on the RBA home page, such as the rule status and the date it was last triggered.

  2. Click on the rule name to track the detailed action log and other details.

Managing the Existing Rule

  1. Users can modify the existing rule by clicking the 'Edit' button.
  2. Activate or pause the rule by clicking the status button.
